Frequently asked questions
You fly from Santiago to Calama (~2 h, year-round flights), and from there it's about 100 km (1 h 15 min) to San Pedro. Tourevo picks you up at Calama airport with a private transfer and coordinates all of the trip's logistics, including the return.
Atacama is a year-round destination: it's the driest desert on Earth, with more than 300 clear days a year. From April to November the skies are ideal for stargazing; summer (Dec–Feb) can bring brief spells of altiplano winter weather. Winter nights (Jun–Aug) are cold (below 0 °C) but with the sharpest skies.
3 to 5 days is ideal: it lets you acclimatize properly to the altitude and combine Tatio, Valle de la Luna, altiplanic lagoons and a night of stargazing without rushing. Mark the experiences you're interested in above and we'll build the optimal sequence based on altitude and timing.
We sequence the itinerary from lower to higher altitude: San Pedro sits at 2,400 m, but El Tatio and the altiplanic lagoons rise above 4,000 m. We recommend a calm first 24 hours, constant hydration and high-altitude outings from the second or third day onward. Our guides keep a close eye on every passenger, and the private vehicle lets us adjust the pace.
With Tourevo, 100% private: an exclusive vehicle and guide for your group, departures whenever suits you best (key for El Tatio at sunrise and for the sunsets) and your own pace. Stargazing includes an astronomer dedicated solely to you.
